Environmental and Social Issues

• Social:  There are no major social issues involved in the execution of this project, since the anticipated results are of basic nature and not to be used directly for agriculture.
• Environmental: There are no major environmental issues involved in the execution of this project, since it does not propose to release any environmentally detrimental organisms.

The project will have a positive impact on the biodiversity issues, since the results of EPN on non target species will help in developing safeguards for use these bioagents. Moreover, in the long run, EPN may be an effective component of IPM with reduced use of chemical insecticides.
