 IARI has contributed in the development of country's human resources by generating world class agricultural scientists who have revolutionized the  face of agriculture. It has four world food prize winners into its legacy namely Dr. M S Swaminathan, Dr. S.K.Vasal, Dr. Sanjay Rajaram, Dr. Rattan  Lal. IARI is proud to have 11 Padma Awardees as its ex-students and faculty. The Institute has NAAC A+ rating given by UGC and was ranked 23 as     per MHRD NIRF ranking (2017) which was 1st position in Agricultural Universities.


The vision of Placement Cell is to reduce the gap between the potential candidates and the industry by providing a platform to utilize and acknowledge their technical skills. I do believe that IARI produces scholars, researchers, educationists, professors, managers and policy makers who will exhibit excellent work-ethics and commitments.

As of now, IARI is offering M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in 26 disciplines. Two IARI like institutions have been established at Assam and Jharkhand, where M.Sc. in selected disciplines is offered. Besides this, IARI has initiated M.Sc. programmes in selected disciplines at NIASM, Baramati; NIBSM, Raipur and IIAB, Ranchi from the academic year 2020-21. Institute is also offering Ph.D. in selected disciplines at CIAE, Bhopal and IIHR, Bengaluru as outreach programme. Apart from distinguished faculty, Institute has state-of-art facilities and laboratories to name a few: Discovery Centre, Phytotron Facility, Nanaji Deshmukh Plant Phenomics Facility, Electron microscopic and confocal microscopic facilities. The IARI students' research constitutes an integral part of overall research output of the Institute and the contributions emanating from students' research have been valuable in terms of quality and practical utility. The Post Graduate School of this Institute has, so far, awarded degrees to 10498 students (903 IARI Associateship, 4444 M.Sc., 72 M.Tech. and 5079 Ph.D.), including 487 international students.

IARI has international collaborations with various organizations including Potash and Phosphate Institute of Canada (PPIC), United State Agency for International Development (USAID), International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (CIMMYT), United Nations Environment Program Regional Research Centre for Asia and the Pacific (UNEP RRCAP) and Western Sydney University (WSU), Australia.
